Founded at Home

Ladera’s name comes from a small hillside community at the base of the Santa Cruz mountain range in Northern California. Our original recipe started here, in the kitchen of Karen Butterfield, a Stanford-trained medical doctor and mother of our company’s founder, Brian.

Our Values

Balance, in its various manifestations, is a constant challenge for all of us. Throughout our days and years, we constantly seek balance between our desire for immediate gratification (fun) and our desire to shape the world around us into a better place (work). It can be as simple as choosing between a salad and cheeseburger, a run and watching TV, or climbing that last hill and heading back home.

Our goal at Ladera is to inspire us all to experience the pleasure of progress. On the food side, we want to provide a culinary experience that is second to none. At the same time, we aim to deliver functional benefits that enable lasting performance, mentally and physically. Our physical health can enable us to do amazing things, but can also be debilitating if we are not careful. Eating a healthy diet, getting proper exercise, and getting sufficient sleep are crucial to our physical and mental well-being.

We hope our food can help make a healthy diet incredibly satisfying. We hope you have a chance to try our cycling kits as well – these jerseys and bib shorts are built out of our favorite cycling material, Nortex, and are quite eye catching.

For sleep, we hope our food and biking gear helps. If not, quit working so hard and try to get some rest!

Organic Blueberry Smoothie

Blend blueberries & almond milk to make a smoothie. Top it with bananas, blueberries and our
nut free Vanilla Quinoa Granola

Mint Green + Smoothie Bowl

Blend mint + cacao smoothie cup with chocolate almond milk. Top smoothie with blueberries, kiwi, mini dairy free chocolate chips. Top with our own low sugar Cocoa Almond Granola.

Grilled Ladera Granola Peach

Cut peaches or nectarines in half and take out pit. Grill for 10-15 minutes. Take off grill and sprinkle with approximately 1 tablespoon of Ladera Granola.

Fresh Fruit Bowl

Blend a ripe banana with frozen pineapple, frozen mango and orange juice. Pour it into a bowl and top with some fresh orange slices, strawberries, blueberries and our Vanilla Quinoa Granola.
